LOS ANDES ACADEMY

Carmelite Friars of Manjummel Province (OCD) is working diligently for the last 180 years with the sole purpose of upliftment of the poor and the needy. Initially, OCD community set up hospitals and health care facilities, schools, orphanages and small-scale industrial units to fulfil this objective.

With the advent of reforms, switch over to market economy and opening of global markets, job profiles have gone through radical transformations which necessitate expensive high-quality education for better paying placements in a modern enterprise. This scenario has forced financially weak and even middle-class young men and women having traditional, affordable graduate level qualifications, to be satisfied with low end jobs and earn a pittance. It is disturbing to see they continue to remain at the lower rungs of society as a glaring manifestation of the utterance “poor remains poor”.

To overcome this harrowing social issue Carmelite community is setting up an educational institution for the target students with nomenclature Los Andes. Commitment is to deliver subsidized affordable high-quality education essential for a successful career building. Apart from regular academic, Los Andes syllabus includes development of social skills inevitable for building both personal and professional relationships, to accomplish career goals, perform well during the hiring process and much more.

Social and Educational Department of Manjummel Province will offer scholarships and various other financial support for the deserving students.
